OUR STORY

A Wisconsin family of champions.

In 2001, Terry Ewert saw BattleBots on TV in his Dorchester, Wisconsin shop and figured he could build something better. He could — Son of Whyachi won the Heavyweight championship that very first year.

More than two decades later, the team still runs out of the family's Westar Manufacturing facility: dairy equipment and precision parts by day, championship combat robots by night.

What began as the Ewert family has grown into a tight crew of builders and drivers — including Richard "Dick" Stuplich and his daughter Rachel since the 2015 reboot, and Rachel's husband Trevor since 2020.

Along the way they've built more than robots — they've even engineered remote-control vehicle systems for the U.S. military — and fielded champions in both BattleBots and BattleBots IQ.
